The New Zealand Harrier Hawk, also known as the Swamp Harrier or Kahu, is a majestic and powerful bird of prey native to New Zealand and is often seen on roadsides, perched on fence posts or in flight around New Zealand
In flight they are “cruisy" and relaxed. It alternates between gentle, lazy wing flaps and extended periods of effortless gliding while quartering the ground for prey or road-kill - blending raw power with perfect aerodynamic elegance!
This sculpture is absolutely stunning and really expresses an exquisite display of natural grace
Made from both new and recycled materials
Set in concrete with natural river rocks and mounted on a hardwood railway sleeper with built-in outdoor light which looks absolutely stunning in the evening

ABOUT THE ARTIST –
Warwick Armstrong is an engineer fabricator by trade and has also created his own blacksmith shop Armstrong Forge in rural North Canterbury with his partner Yvette, where they both teach knife making classes and create functional and artistic pieces
Warwick has many skills and is very visionary with a passion for transforming used items or materials into fantastic art pieces. His background as an engineer ensures each piece he creates has strength, preciseness along with his own flare
Often creating functional pieces along with artistic pieces or combining the two. Warwick loves the challenge of transforming a range of materials, experimenting and using a variety of different skills to every project
